Uluru is the Ayers Rock in central Australia, or the holiest site of the Aborigines. It is the rock where all their ancestors live. This rock is actually not allowed to be climbed, but unfortunately many tourists do not respect this rule. For the Aborigines, the essence of the rock is their belief that their ancestors will return to earth there and interact with them. The Aborigines are a very wise people. Unfortunately, that wisdom has been grossly misunderstood by the Western world by having these people re-educated with white families in days gone by, thus depriving them of their self-worth. They had to become “white” and have “white” thoughts. Originally Aborigines live with and off the land, they have a great deal of respect for everything that lives.
